Among the highlights of capital projects at UL last year was the opening of the University's newly-constructed innovative science and engineering building on campus, named the Analog Devices building. This followed a gift of €2 million to the UL Foundation and was constructed as part of the Bernal Project. This ground-breaking initiative will create in excess of 100 new jobs, including a significant number of high value research and teaching roles, and involves the recruitment of 10 world leading professors who will undertake pioneering research in support of Irish economic growth.  Of the €54 Million project, 70% is being funded philanthropically through the UL Foundation.

Special guests at the opening of the Analog Devices building were the company’s senior representatives, all of whom are graduates of UL. ADI’s CEO Vincent Roche, BSc '82 and senior Vice-Presidents, Dick Meaney, BSc '79 and Peter Real, BSc '81, all returned to the campus for this very special occasion.
